In this exhibition, I explore the lived experiences of patients from the past—experiences that have not been preserved in archives or history books. Throughout human history, we have been confronted with illness, suffering, and death. In our modern era, we live longer and physically healthier than ever before. At the same time, we seem increasingly unable to reconcile ourselves with the impermanence of our health. Through my mixed-media collages, I draw attention to the intimate human experiences of health and illness, which seem to be increasingly hidden from view in today’s world.
